Bunbury’s only music festival has been axed for the second year in a row, with COVID-19 once again the cause of the cancellation.

Groovin the Moo organisers Cattleyard Productions announced the decision this morning, blaming the lack of clarity surrounding this year’s event.

“Because of the current restrictions, the uncertainty of when they’ll be eased and the amount of time needed to plan GTM, it makes it impossible to go ahead with the tour,” the company said in a statement.

Festival goers who bought tickets to last year’s event and haven’t received a refund are being told those tickets will now gain them entry to next year’s event.

“We’re working towards 2022 going ahead and will do everything we can to make this happen,” Cattleyard said.

Refunds are still available for those who want them.

The last GTM was held in May 2019 and attracted the likes of Billie Eilish, Coolio, the Hilltop Hoods and MØ.

Cattleyard will be instead focus their efforts on a new rising star music festival called Fresh Produce, which is set to hit Hay Park on August 20 and 21.

It is the latest in a number of local events to be cancelled or postponed amid COVID-19 uncertainty.

The Bunbury City Classic Triathlon has been postponed until October 21 due to a lack of clarity around pandemic restrictions.

The event was due to take place on Sunday.

Despite the COVID-19 disruptions, WA recorded no new community cases of the virus today.
